An unusual business venture in 1960s Farnhill.
The work that the History Group has done on the shops and businesses of Farnhill and Kildwick in the 20th century has shown that you could buy pretty much anything you wanted locally: from jam to coal; from your Sunday joint to a three-piece suit.
But even were surprised when we came across the following headline in the Craven Herald from July 1967.
The piece goes on to describe how a two-man company, Craven Coin Investments, based in Farnhill, was about to take over the old Co-op shop. (The Co-op was located in a single-storey building on Main Street, opposite Bainbridge Wharfe. It is now a private house.)
The company built fruit-machines, pin-tables and juke-boxes for local pubs and clubs, including Kildwick Hall Hotal. It was run by F. Thompson and A. Goldborough.
